Bird Walk - Great Backyard Bird Count In-Person

Join birder Ray Perry for an early morning bird walk along the Spring Run Trail in Saratoga Springs. This walk will be held on the first day of the 2022 Great Backyard Bird Count. Ray Perry is an experienced bird walk guide and a past Director of the Five Rivers Environmental Education Center in Delmar.

Please dress warmly and bring along binoculars if you have them. We likely will be on the trail for two hours. If you are a beginning bird admirer, The Great Backyard Bird Count website recommends using the Merlin Bird ID app. The bird walk starts promptly at 8:00 a.m.at the Spring Run Trail parking area, located on East Ave. near the corner of Excelsior Avenue.

Registration is required and attendance is limited. Register online in advance.

The Great Backyard Bird Count runs from February 18-21 this year. Participants are asked to watch birds for 15 minutes or more, at least once over the four days, count all the birds they see or hear during their planned time/location and use one of the tools listed on the website to share their bird sightings.
