Learn to Make an Indian Feast: Gujarati Thali

Learn to Make an Indian Feast: Gujarati Thali In-Person

Explore the exotic cuisine of Gujarat, a state in Northwestern India famous for its rich cultural heritage, especially dance (Garba and dandiya raas) and food! Tarla Dalal (One of India’s most well-known cooking teachers) states “Gujarati’s have truly perfected the art of vegetarian cooking. Using a little ingenuity, they have succeeded in transforming the simplest ingredients into mouth-watering delicacies”.

In this class, we will teach you the skills to create a typical Gujarati Thali (plate) that is a daily staple in Gujarati homes. A typical Thali consists of roti (bread), dal (lentils), shaak (vegetables), and rice. For this class, we will make Gujarati Toor Dal (pigeon peas), rotis (flat bread) and basmati rice.
