Civil Air Patrol - Who They Are and What They Do In-Person
As an Auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force, the Civil Air Patrol Emergency Services mission includes Peacetime Disaster Relief, Inland Search and Rescue, Counterdrug Operations, and Special Homeland Security mission support. CAP members are volunteers, and the unit works closely with many national agencies, and can assist state and local missions. CAP members will discuss their mission, answer questions, and display some equipment (radios, backpacks, etc.) that are typically used. No registration required.
During this program, on behalf of Operation Adopt-A-Soldier, the library is collecting gently used magazines, greeting cards made out to "Any Soldier" for any holiday and toiletries.
A cadet program is geared to young people who are actively involved in all aspects of these Emergency Services. This program is for aviation enthusiasts, people interested in search & rescue, volunteer organizations, etc. All are welcome!
