Family Story Time incorporates early literacy concepts for all ages — this is a great option for families with multiple children or who want their children to experience a variety of books and activities. Recommended for children ages 0-5 with a caregiver.

Registration is not required, but space is limited based on room capacity.

What to Expect

  • 20 minutes of directed activity, then 10 minutes of coloring/crafting for older kids and playtime for littles.
  • Directed activity includes librarian reading a couple books aloud, with songs or simple group activities in-between each book.
  • At least one caregiver will sit with their child/children and encourage them to participate.
  • Sit on carpet squares on the floor, or in chairs at the back or side of the group.

  • Door is closed once program begins, but it is not locked so late arrivals may join quietly.

Sensory Information

  • Room may be moderately busy.
  • Bright overhead lights.

  • Music will be playing over a speaker for the last 10 minutes.

Supports

  • Feel free to leave early or take a short break as needed.
  • There is space in the back of the room for attendees to move around if sitting still/being in front is difficult.
