The Capital Region PRISM presents Aquatic Invasive Species: Threats to our waterways and how to stop them. Topics covered will include an introduction to invasive species and their characteristics, common aquatic invaders in Saratoga and how to identify them, new/emerging invasive species, and a basic overview of management strategies.

No registration required. 

The Capital Region Partnership for Regional Invasive Species Management (CR-PRISM) is a collaborative organization created to address the threat of invasive species. The CR-PRISM is financially supported by the Environmental Protection Fund as administered by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (NYS DEC). The CR-PRISM is a not-for-profit quasi-government agency hosted by the Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) of Saratoga County. 

This program is inspired by our 2026 summer reading program, Unearth a Story.

What to Expect

  • The talk is hosted by library staff.
  • There will be a speaker who will share images and text on a large screen.
  • Participation is optional.
  • You are welcome to listen quietly without participating.
  • You may arrive late or leave early if needed.
  • There is no expectation of prior knowledge about the topic.
  • The library moderates discussions to support respectful dialogue but may not endorse all viewpoints expressed.

  • The program takes place in a shared indoor event space.
  • Seating is around a grouping of tables.
  • Lighting is standard indoor lighting.
