Rhona Koretzky returns to teach a multi-session American Mah Jongg class (Mondays 6/01, 6/08, 6/15, 6/22, 6/29). The format will be beginner instruction and playing in small groups. Please note that these sessions are separate from the Mah Jongg class that is taking place on Tuesday mornings.

What to Expect:  

  • We will be learning American Mah Jongg. 
  • Our teacher will be spend much of the first four sessions explaining the basics of the game to the group.  
  • A Mah Jongg game is usually made up of four players. There may be the need to adjust the game to just three players depending on the number of participants. 
  • The librarian will give each table a case containing all materials needed for a game of Mah Jongg. 
  • Mah Jongg cards will also be provided, but you can bring your own card as long as it matches the current Mah Jongg year. 

Sensory Information: 

  • We will be playing with smooth white tiles that have different symbols and pictures on them.  
  • Loud sounds may be made by tiles falling onto the table.  
  • Lighting is standard indoor lighting. 

Sensory Supports: 

  • Fidget tools or quiet sensory items are welcome. 
  • You are welcome to take breaks or step out if you need to. 
  • Staff are happy to help with seating preferences when possible.
