Homeschooled children in grades K-6, accompanied by an adult, are invited to attend a Karner Blue Butterfly walk led by an Environmental Educator from Wilton Wildlife Preserve & Park. We will learn about butterflies and take a mile-long hike. Please dress for the weather.

Register each child who will be attending, as space is limited.

Getting There

  • Meet in the parking lot next to the Camp Saratoga buildings, in parking lot 1.
  • Putting "Town of Wilton Camp Saratoga Parking Lot #1" or "90 Scout Rd, Gansevoort, NY 12831" in your GPS will get you to the right place.

What to Expect

  • An Environmental Educator from Wilton Wildlife will lead kids into a field where we can see butterflies, and tell us about Karner Blue Butterflies and their unique habitat.
  • Then, the educator will lead everyone on a loop trail, which is approximately one mile long.
  • This is not a stroller friendly walk.
  • Depending on the weather, it may be hot, buggy, or muddy. Please dress appropriately, bring water, and wear sunscreen.
  • Stay on trails to avoid damaging wildlife and to avoid ticks and poison ivy.
  • Check for ticks when you get home.
