Kids in grades 2 and up are invited to join the Chess Club. Beginners are welcome. Librarians and volunteers will be on hand to help with skill-building. Please register online for each session individually.

What to Expect 

  • The library provides chess boards.
  • Children play matches with other children or teen volunteers.
  • One or two teen volunteers will be on hand to offer one-on-one instruction. Players seeking instruction may have to take turns with volunteers, depending on skill levels of participants and the number of volunteers per session.

Sensory Information 

  • Room will likely not be busy. (Registration open to 8 children). Please, note the program is held in the public setting of the Children's Room
  • Bright overhead lights. 

Supports 

  • Noise cancelling headphones and fidgets are welcome. A limited number is available to use during the program or bring your own.
