Teens in grades 9-12, join Saratoga Springs Poet Laureate Jay Rogoff for a four-week poetry workshop for area high school students! The workshop will meet 4 - 5:30 p.m. on four consecutive Thursday afternoons: April 16, April 23, April 30, and May 7. Registration is limited to 15 participants. Participants are encouraged to attend all four sessions. Please register online.

Most of each session will be devoted to group discussions of each other’s work and offering constructive criticism as to how each poem might be improved. Sessions will promote an atmosphere in which writers feel comfortable sharing their insights. The goal of each session will be to make each poem as good as possible, and along the way, to encourage the development of a community dedicated to this common goal.

No previous experience writing poetry is required, and Rogoff will provide writing prompts for the group.

Everyone should bring twelve copies of an original poem to the first meeting.

This event is funded in part by Poets & Writers with public funds from the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
