Children entering grades 1-5 are invited to join Elizabeth Warner from Betterbee as she describes the basics of beekeeping and demonstrates the equipment needed. She will be bringing a safely enclosed hive for you to observe!
No registration required.
What to Expect:
- You will sit quietly near other children and listen to the beekeeper talk about bees and demonstrate how the hives are maintained
- She will bring a safely enclosed hive for you to look at. Bees will not escape from the hive
- You must wait your turn to view the hive
Sensory:
- The room will be brightly lit.
- There may be crowds to view the hive and beekeeping equipment
Supports:
- If the line to see the bees is too crowded or long, you may go out in the hallway to wait
- There are sensory items available on each library floor should you need them
