Join the Saratoga County League of Women Voters for a thought-provoking community discussion led by Dr. Timothy Weintzen, associate professor and chair of Skidmore's English Department, on the lasting impact of George Orwell’s 1984. First published in 1950, 1984 remains one of the most frequently banned books of all time. Why has this novel continued to resonate—and disturb—for more than 70 years? Let’s talk about that! (Participants are encouraged to revisit the book before attending.) This program is being held at the Davis Auditorium at Skidmore College.
Please bring a donation to help restock the Little Liberty Library at Caffè Lena or a copy of a banned book. This program is co-sponsored by Caffè Lena, Saratoga County League of Women Voters, Saratoga Springs Public Library and Skidmore’s Scribner Library.
