Henrietta Lacks Film Screening and Discussion In-Person

Join us in viewing the 2017 film adaption of The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, starring Oprah Winfrey and Rose Byrne. George C. Wolfe’s The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks tells the stories of Henrietta, of journalist Rebecca Skloot, the woman who spent a decade researching this strange story and wrote the bestselling book on which this film is based, and Deborah Lacks, Henrietta’s daughter, who has become somewhat obsessed and damaged by the saga of her mother and how little she feels like she knows about a woman who has become the property of the world. A short discussion will follow.
