Mozart's Cosi: An Elusively Ironic Tale of Love Tested

Mozart's Cosi: An Elusively Ironic Tale of Love Tested In-Person

Tom Denny, retired Skidmore music professor, will lead this two-part exploration of the unique and controversial place Così fan tutte holds in the opera repertoire. Discover how Mozart used music to shape the drama, sharpen the comedy, and amplify the emotions onstage. Learn how Mozart navigated the intrigues of the Viennese imperial opera houses. Carry these new perspectives into the theater as you enjoy a live festival performance by Opera Saratoga of the entire opera. Please register online.

This presentation is being offered as a 2 part series on June 5th and June 12th. Come to both sessions or just one. Each of the two sessions can be enjoyed on its own, but the two together will complement and build on each other.

Puzzled and perplexed by people’s passion for opera? Or are you already an avid aficionado? Whichever description fits you best, come spend an hour or two diving into the sumptuous music, scheming antics, and penetrating psychology of Mozart’s Così fan tutte (perhaps the most gorgeous opera of all).

Opera Saratoga will be performing this comic masterpiece four times during its annual summer festival at Universal Preservation Hall: June 28 and 30, and July 3 and 6.
