Abdul grew up in West Africa, Mali where most of the ceremonies are celebrated with drums and traditional instruments (djembé, dundun, and, kora, etc…) He grew up dancing at birthday parties and weddings in the streets of Lafiabougou, Bamako. He started to professionally learn West African dance upon his arrival to the Capital Region from reputable teachers. He travelled to many states seeking more knowledge and participated in countless workshops. Today, Abdul teaches West African dance to children, youth, and adults. He also collaborates with schools, community centers, libraries, and other organizations to encourage social engagement.
